Supporting 1705 Army Cadets: How You Can Help Build Tomorrow’s Leaders
The 1705 Royal Canadian Army Cadets have been part of Vernon’s community for decades, shaping confident, capable, and community-minded young people who carry the values of leadership, teamwork, and service into every part of their lives.
While the Cadet Program is funded in part by the Department of National Defence (DND), which provides uniforms, training materials, and official instruction, much of what makes 1705 special comes from our local Support Committee, a volunteer group that ensures our cadets have the best possible opportunities and experiences.
Your generosity directly impacts these young leaders. Whether through donations, supplies, or volunteering, every contribution helps us continue to offer a strong, engaging, and life-changing program for youth in the Vernon area.

Where Your Donations Go
Funds raised and donated to 1705 through our Support Committee are used for the things that make our corps thrive, the extras that go beyond what federal funding covers.
Your donations help with:
Transportation and meals for local and regional training exercises
Ceremonial supplies such as flags, awards, and presentation materials
Community events and recognition nights to celebrate cadet achievements
Equipment and gear for outdoor adventures, navigation, or field training
Uniform accessories and replacements not issued through DND
Facility improvements and resources that enhance training and safety
Local engagement projects that strengthen our presence in the community
Every dollar goes directly into creating meaningful, memorable experiences for our cadets, giving them the skills, confidence, and friendships that last a lifetime.

Other Ways to Contribute
Not all donations have to be monetary, in-kind donations of goods or services are equally valuable and deeply appreciated.
Examples include:
Printing and signage for events
Food or supplies for weekend exercises
Outdoor or camping equipment (in good condition)
Gift cards or small prizes for recognition nights
Professional services such as photography, transport, or gear repair
Offer Mentorship or Skills Training
Community Partnerships
Behind-the-Scenes Help
If you own or work for a local business, partnering with 1705 is a great way to give back to the community while directly supporting youth development in Vernon.

Volunteer With the Support Committee
Our 1705 Army Cadet Support Committee is the heart of our corps. This dedicated group of volunteers handles fundraising, finances, administration, and event support, allowing our cadet staff to focus on mentoring and training.
You don’t need to have a cadet enrolled to volunteer. Many of our most valued committee members are community leaders, parents, or retirees who simply believe in helping youth grow. Whether you can offer a few hours a month or take on a leadership role within the committee, your time and expertise make an enormous difference.
